Anglo-Scandinavian oak bark tanned belt with Iron buckle, Hand made and suitable for an Anglo – Scandinavian 8th – 12th Century kit.

We are delighted to offer this hand made Oak Bark-tan Calf Leather belt as part of our updated range.

The buckle and Buckle plate are mad from Iron that has been polished and blued.

The strap is 2cm wide, made from Oak Bark-tan Calf Leather, its colour comes from the tanning process so it does vary in shade along the belt strap which is also finished with MOM’s Leather grease

Your belt will be finished to suit your length requirements. Please add your total length and the fit size range you require as a note on the order, for example:  Total length 50″ to fit 40 – 42″ waist. Please note that for lengths over 45″ there will be a joint required as with our Goat belts, this does not affect the strength of the strap 🙂

Provenance:

Buckle- Various period examples including Viking burials at Reay and Orkney. Ubiquitous in domestic sites such as Buiston Crannog, Dundurn hillfort and York.

Strap construction follows examples from the period finds from the 9th – 11th C.
